Sing for D'Backs! The
chapter performed a pre-game con- cert on July 19th, followed
on July 21st by chapter quartet "In A Chord", who performed
the National Anthem. The chapter is slated to return to
Chase Field on Sept. 7th to sing the National Anthem. Southern

"In A Chord"
Wins Novice Quartet Award!
Mesa chapter quartet
"In A Chord" won the Novice quartet award at the Arizona
Division Convention on April 24th. The quartet, comprised
of chapter members Roger Morrow (bari), Bill Johnston
(bass), Ray Kahler (tenor), and Ron Steen (lead), and scored an average of 58.8 points
per song. This score is the highest average achieved by
a Mesa quartet in competition. Congratulations, In A Chord!

WHAT
IS BARBERSHOP? Barbershop harmony is a
uniquely American musical art form. It is known for its four-part harmony
and the
“expanded sound” created by its unique chord structure. Click

ABOUT THE BARBERSHOP HARMONY SOCIETY: Founded in 1938 in Tulsa, Okla.,
the Barbershop Harmony Society is the largest all-male singing organization in
the world. There are eight official foreign affiliates of the Society, but
barbershop harmony is sung in more than 40 countries including Japan, Russia and
China.
